April 2, 2020
Welcome to my hideaway! This is where I've been hanging out during the virus outbreak. It's pretty cushy. I've got a roof overhead, the reservoir nearby for water, and lots of peace and quiet! Okay, so I'm a day late for April Fools. Today I walked the Lynn Woods (highly recommend!) with my sister and my daughter. We discovered this little structure along the lake trail. Who do you think made this? Show your child and hypothesize! Let me know what theories you come up with in the comments below!
Walking has really become a way for me to process and digest the day. I am sitting a lot more than I usually do. My hamstrings are killing me and by 4:00 p.m. my eyes are bugging out from looking at screens all day! I love to walk by the beach. I usually park at the end of Eastern Ave, walk down Lynn Shore Drive, out to Nahant, and back. See yesterday's post!
I actually started doing this BEFORE corona virus changed life as we know it. I started walking the beach to remind myself how wonderful life is (wait, isn't that a song...) and how beautiful our area is. I walk to destress, reflect, and reframe my thinking. Yes, it's good physical exercise but it is also good mental exercise to simply enjoy the view and empty your head.
I have a request. If you are on Class Dojo and you see that a classmate is not on yet, please reach out (if you can) and invite them to join. I know some of our families are without technology. I need to know so we can come up with a plan to support ALL of our Aborn families. Please help me figure out who is unable to access Class Dojo. I am committed to making sure all of our families have access to the resources THEY need to make this remote learning time as easy as possible.
One final thought for the day...I want to thank all of the Aborn Teachers and Staff who have worked tirelessly on connecting with families, attending Zoom meetings with me, finding, creating, and uploading resources for their students, and learning new technology along the way. And of course, thanks to YOU, our Aborn Families.
Miss you,
Mrs. Spiess
