It's time. As much as I am sad to see this blogging chapter end, I am happy that so many Aborn families have connected on Class Dojo and are putting their efforts and concentration there!
This is a wild time. An unstable time. A time of change. A time that requires great flexibility and patience. A time that can create devastation and spur opportunity simultaneously. Me? I like change. I see all change as a chance to challenge the status quo, to shift perspective, and to alter the course.
Our motto - If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you - seems more appropriate now than ever before. For me, challenge is the ultimate step in learning. Challenge IS the definition of learning.
At this time, everything is being challenged.
What does/should school look like?
What is the role of the school?
What is the role of the family?
How does technology figure in?
What's important?
How should learning be measured?
What is worth measuring?
How can we measure learning?
What is worth learning?
I'm sure you can think of a few more questions. So what will WE learn from this? What are the takeaways? It is too early to say, but I hope that collectively, we will be able to reflect on this experience and create future opportunities for our scholars that involve the answers to some of these questions.
With sincerest appreciation for our educators and our families.
Always,
Mrs. Spiess
Thank you for keeping this going until dojo was up and running. No one ever said a challenge should be easy....it’s all what you make of it... thanks for all you do you are a great principle!
